Only Two Days To Go...

... Until the first Saturday that my local farmers market is open for business!
Hoorah! This means I can once again purchase my most favorite local gluten-free chocolate chip cookie dough, delicious veggies, gorgeous organically grown flowers and other goodies. It's a little early for a lot of produce, but there's always something tempting to sample and I love to watch all the dogs and babies and the old man that plays the accordian.

What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Artsy Engagement Shoot

After seeing these adorable engagement photos of my sister-in-law Sarah and her fiance Nick, by Jessica Valle, a Seattle photographer with a fantastic eye, I knew I had to share them. Kinda makes me want to fly to Seattle and hire Jessica to do a shoot with me and my man. It  doesn't hurt that the couple is pretty darn adorable themselves...

Hello and happy Friday friends!
It's been raining buckets and buckets here and so I have wellies and umbrellies on the brain. In addition, I've been humming that adorable little ditty from Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day:

"And the rain rain rain came down down down,
and the flood rose up-up-upper,
Pooh too was caught and so he thought
I must rescue my supper.
Ten honey pots he rescued,
enough to see him through,
but as he sopped up his supper
the river sopped up Pooh..."

Home for Spring

We just spent a long weekend back home in Nebraska to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday and to see family. We had a terriffic time sharing meals, playing with our nephews, brushing up on our wii skills, rummaging for vintage finds at my favorite hole-in-the-wall antique shop and visiting our alma mater, the University of Nebraska for their annual red and white football game.

Whenever we make the trip back, I always enjoy perusing the yard back home. Planting bulbs and pots full of flowers was always a favorite hobby of mine during highschool (no surprise I have my floral business now I suppose) so it's nice to see the faces of the pink tulips I buried in the cold October ground when I was about 16 and the volunteer violets scattered around the river rock. It did my heart good to see the one remaining lilac bush in bloom - the only one that survived the neighbors crusade to remove the flowering hedge and replace it with a hideous chain link fence. And then there was the lovely scent of the blossoming Queen Anne cherry tree outside my old bedroom window. It was good to be home.

I'm currently in love with pretty much anything from the online clothing and accessory boutique ModCloth. The shop has gobs of fabulous dresses with a vintage inspired aesthetic and a range of price points by indie designers. They also have a section on their site dedicated to only vintage items, but one must act fast because the authentic retro goods go like hot cakes!

Coming Soon....

Hello friends. The husband and I have been a bit under the weather this week. More him than me but I'm going to use that excuse for my lack of posts.

Anyway! I have some freshly created headbands that I'm rather pleased with and excited to share with you! Lately, I've been experimenting with this gorgeous hand-dyed ribbon. The colors are absolute divinity. I will be adding this piece as well as a handful of others to my Etsy shop in the next couple of days, so please stop by and take a peek!

Give Me Back My Boots

Lately, I've been having some vivid dreams. Last night was no exception. I would prefer that if my mind/subconscious is going to go to the trouble of producing these dreams, they at least be beneficial in some way - i.e. they help me realize something important about my life or help me heal a past wound - something useful like that. Last night's dream only made me realize that my abiding love for fashion boots runs deep - real deep.

In my dream, an unknown fashionista somehow managed to steal one of my favorite pair of boots. I knew she did it and confronted her but to no avail. I was terribly upset knowing I wouldn't be able to track down another pair because I bought them a few months back and my size (8.5) is always out of stock. Crisis! Finally, this mystery woman admitted guilt and returned my boots. Upon closer inspection, I realized that in the short amount of time she had my prized possession, she managed to stretch them out, scuff the outsides and wear down the heels. I was pissed. And then... I woke up. Not sure if there's some deeper meaning to this one? Seems pretty straight forward to me.

Easter Greetings

Happy Easter friends! How is it that time already? The hubby and I are headed to the mountains to have Easter lunch with my sister and brother-in-law and his family. I can hardly wait to get my hands on my sweet little nephews and enjoy hunting for eggs with them.

I feel like Easter has crept up on me this year and I'm not feeling as contemplative this Good Friday as I should. This holiday in particular is very special to me because of my faith. May it be a lovley and special celebration for you as well.

My sis and her hubby went to a Mad Men themed cocktail party over the weekend and the pictures were so fabulous, I had to share.

Darby has always had a way of pulling off that retro look with ease and thanks to some outfitting from my other fashionista sister Kelly, they made a smashing couple.

Darby made a lime jello mold with maraschino cherries. So 1963, no?

And get a load of the other party-goers. I can't believe how everyone looks like they stepped right of the set of Mad Men. Bravo.
